Let's read the story of Nightingale.

I introduced part 1 of the story of "Nightingale" in my previous blog, so today I will introduce part 2.

"Nightingale" Part 2
After a while, a gift arrived for the King.
King: "Hmm? I guess another book has arrived."
When I looked, I saw that it wasn't a book, but a Golden Warbler music box.
*Japanese bush warbler: a yellow-green bird with a beautiful voice. It can be found in Japan. Incidentally, there is no bird called a nightingale in Japan.
The golden warbler was adorned with diamonds and other jewels and was very beautiful.
I immediately listened to the music box and was amazed at how beautiful it was.
The King was pleased and said,
King: "What a beautiful voice... With this warbler, I don't need anything."
The Nightingale heard this and flew out the window into the sky.
From then on, every day the King heard the Golden Warbler's song.
However, one day a year later, the golden warbler suddenly stopped moving.
The king called in a skilled repairman to try and fix the golden warbler, but he was unable to do so.
The saddened king searched all over the kingdom for someone who could fix the golden warbler, but no one could.
Five years later, the king became seriously ill.
The king began to meet people less and less, and spent more time alone in his room.
My body gradually became thinner and my complexion became paler.
Seeing the king lying in bed all day, his servants thought, "Maybe he's done for."
King: "Golden Warbler...let me hear your voice once more..."
The king burst into tears.
Then, from somewhere, a beautiful voice like a bell came.
The Nightingale had heard about the King and had come to sing for him.
The nightingale sang with all her might by the window.
As the king listened to the song, he gradually began to feel better.
King: "Oh, thank you, Nightingale. I'm so glad to hear you sing again."
That night, the king slept soundly, listening to the nightingale's song.
The next morning, the servants came into the king's room.
The servants were worried that the king had died and came to check on him.
Then the King said,
King: "Hello, good morning."
He said to his servants.
The servants were all surprised.
How was it?
The story was "The Nightingale"!
The sound of birds is so soothing!
Now, let's explain the meaning and usage of the grammar "~uchi" that appears in the story.
Grammar explanation of "in"
In the story, " As the king listened to the song, he gradually began to feel better."
It was used like this.
What does this "inside" mean?
"Inside of ~" is used to mean things like "It changed while I was doing ~" or "It changed when I was doing ~."
Sample1 I fell asleep while watching TV.
Sample2 As I read Japanese novels, I began to understand Japanese.
Sample3 After eating tofu every day, I began to like tofu.
Sample 4: As I practiced at dance class, my sense of rhythm improved.
This can be used to express change.
While watching TV, I gradually became sleepy...
→I fell asleep.
After reading Japanese novels for days, my Japanese gradually improved...
→I'm starting to understand Japanese.
There are also other ways to use "inside".
It means, "Now is the best time! This is your chance!"
Sample1 Let's go cherry blossom viewing while the cherry blossoms are still in bloom.
Sample2 I want to see Kinkakuji Temple while I'm in Japan.
Sample3 Enjoy your coffee before it gets cold!
Sample4 Make a note of this before you forget.
This is how you say, "Now is the best time!"
Cherry blossoms are in bloom → It's your chance to see the cherry blossoms!
Once the cherry blossoms are gone, you can't enjoy cherry blossom viewing.
Coffee is not cold (hot) → It's the most delicious!
When coffee gets cold, it doesn't taste very good.
In this way, "at this very moment" can be used to express the meaning, "Now is the chance, so let's do this! Please do this! Let's do this!"
Please try using this phrase when you want to express change or a chance in your daily life!
