Hello everyone!

The sun is pretty strong in GW, and it's finally summer...! I thought, but it seems that the chilly days will continue this week.

Today is also quite cool with 13 degrees Celsius.

It's especially important to take care of your physical condition during this time of year when the temperature fluctuates wildly.

Today, let's get back into the winter mood and read the story "The Snow Queen"!

There will be a lot of kanji, so I think it will be a very challenging exercise for those who are not good at kanji.

Well then, let's read well today!

"The snow queen"

Once upon a time, evil demons made a magic mirror.

It was a mirror that made beautiful things look smaller and bad things look bigger.

The demons were carrying mirrors, wondering what would happen if humans or gods were reflected in them.

However, my hand slipped and the mirror fell.

The mirror broke and fell into our human world.

Kai and Gerda are childhood friends. We lived next door and always played together.

Kai is a kind boy and Gerda is a cheerful girl.

The two of them were taking care of the roses together today.

When I was watering, suddenly

Kai: "Ouch! Something got in my eye!"

Gerda: "What's wrong?"

A shard of the demon's mirror got into Kai's eye.

Then, Kai's gentle heart disappeared due to the magic of the mirror fragment,

Kai: "Nothing! Oh, I'm getting irritated. It's time! I'm going home!"

After saying that, Kai left Gerda and went home.

After that Kai didn't talk to Gerda for days and started playing alone.

One day, the Snow Queen found Kai and took him to the Land of Ice.

Gerda decides to go on a journey to find Kai.

Since then Gerda walked without drinking water every day until finally she fell down from exhaustion.

Then a kind old woman helped Gerda.

Gerda found herself at her grandmother's house with a beautiful flower garden.

Gerda: "Grandmother, thank you for your help. I'm looking for a boy named Kai. Did you see him anywhere?"

Grandmother: "I haven't seen you. Anyway, please take it easy here until you feel better."

Gerda: "Yes, grandmother!"

After resting for a while, Gerda helped her grandmother with the household chores.

Whether it's laundry, cleaning or cooking, Gerda can help with anything.

Grandma was so happy that Gerda was helping her that she wanted Gerda to stay with her forever.

He cast a spell on Gerda and made her forget everything.

Gerda forgot about Kai and her travels and started living with her grandmother.

Granny loves living with Gerda.

But months later, while Gerda was cleaning the garden,

Gerda: "Huh...?"

It is a flower that I have seen somewhere.

Gerda: "This is the rose that Kai and I were growing!"

Gerda finally remembers Kai and runs away from her grandmother's house.

Gerda started walking again.

Then a crow came and told me that he had seen a prince like Kai.

Gerda decided to visit the country.

But it was another boy.

A kind King provided the disappointed Gerda with food and a carriage for the journey.

Gerda got into her carriage and set out on her journey again.

However, on the way there were thieves who took Gerda's food and carriage.

Gerda: "Oh, what should I do..."

Then another crow came and told me that Kai was with the Queen of the Ice Country.

Gerda was so tired that she almost collapsed, but she started running in hopes of meeting Kai.

Finally, we arrived at Ice Country.

The ice country was cold and Gerda was frozen.

But when I managed to get to the Snow Queen's castle, I started looking for Kai.

Gerda: "Kye! Kai!"

Then I saw a boy sitting in a room doing something.

A boy is doing an ice puzzle by himself.

Gerda: "Oh! It's Kai!"

Gerda went up to Kai and hugged him.

Gerda: "Kai! Are you okay?"

Kai: "..."

Kai had already lost his mind.

Gerda was so sad that tears came to her eyes.

When those tears fall into Kai's hands...

Kai: "Huh? Where am I? Gerda, why are you crying?"

Gerda: "Kai! Do you know who I am? I came to pick you up! Let's go home together."

Kai's icy heart melted Gerda's tender heart.

So the two of them returned to their town and lived happily ever after.

How was your talk?

This story is based on Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale.

It's interesting to see a lot of strange things appear, such as a magic mirror and an old woman who can erase memories. I get a very different impression from Japanese folk tales.

Did you enjoy the story of the ice world?

I will also introduce another story, so please come and visit this blog!
