Let's read "Kachikachiyama". I will introduce Japanese old tales!
Hello everyone.
Are you spending your New Year holidays slowly?
It's very cold outside, so please be careful not to catch a cold.
Since this year is the year of the rabbit, I would like to introduce a story about a rabbit.
The story is called "Kachikachiyama".
Please watch till the end!
"Kachikachi mountain"
Once upon a time, there lived an old man and an old woman.
The grandfather and grandmother grew vegetables in the field and lived together.
However, one morning, when they were about to go out and start working in the field, they found that the field had been ruined.
"Who did such a terrible thing..."
Then a raccoon dog came out of the bush and
"Hey, old man, old woman! I'll eat all your vegetables!"
I made a fool of them and ran away.
The next day, the next day, the raccoon dog messed up the grandfather and grandmother's fields.
One night, the old man got angry and set a trap in the field.
And when the two went to see the field in the morning, a mischievous tanuki was caught in a trap.
The old man tied the raccoon dog to the pillar of the house so that he could not move.
"Grandmother, we're having raccoon soup tonight. Hey, I'm going to the mountains to cut some wood."
After saying that, the old man left for the mountains.
The tanuki cried for a while.
"Uh, uh, untie me..."
The old woman ignored the raccoon as she prepared dinner, but the tanuki cried so loudly that she began to feel sorry for him.
"It can't be helped... It's only this time. Don't let our fields be destroyed again."
The old woman untied the tanuki from the rope.
Then the tanuki pounced on the old lady and pushed her away.
Granny Don! I couldn't move with my butt mochi.
“Wow wow wow…”
The raccoon dog took advantage of the opportunity and ran away.
"You stupid old lady! Hahaha!"
When the old man came home, he was surprised to see the old woman who had hit her waist and couldn't move.
"What the hell is this?"
"The tanuki ran away."
Then a rabbit passed by.
"What's wrong with Grandpa and Grandma?"
The old man told the rabbit about the tanuki.
"What a terrible fellow! I will punish that tanuki!"
That night, the rabbit returned to his home in the mountains and grilled kibimochi.
Attracted by the sweet smell, the raccoon suddenly popped out.
"Hey, Mr. Rabbit. It smells good. Give me that briskness."
"Good evening, Tanuki. You've come to the right place. Now, I have to carry this load over the mountain. If you can help me, I'll give you kibimochi."
"Okay. In return, give me all of Usagi-san's kibimochi."
Saying that, the raccoon dog carried a bundle of dead leaves that the rabbit had prepared.
The rabbit pretended to help the tanuki prepare to leave and secretly stood behind the tanuki.
And tick-tick... smoothed the flint.
Tick tick tick tick......
The tanuki asked curiously.
"Don't you hear a strange ticking sound?"
"It's the ticking birds."
Ticking... fluttering...
A fire came out from the flint and began to burn the bundle of dead leaves that the tanuki was carrying.
Bobo…
"This time, you'll hear a boo-boo."
"That's just the birds chirping."
The raccoon dog started walking while wondering, but when he noticed that his back was getting hotter and hotter, he looked behind him...
Your back is on fire!
“Hot!
The tanuki ran away.
The next day, the rabbit went to visit the raccoon dog's house.
“Tanuki, you had a hard time yesterday. Are you okay?”
"Oh, Usagi-san. You came to visit me. I burned my back and it still hurts."
"Then I'll apply the medicine."
The rabbit smeared the medicine on the back of the raccoon dog.
"It hurts! It stings!"
Surprisingly, the rabbit was carrying a medicine containing chili peppers.
The tanuki held his back and started crying.
The rabbit looked at it and went home satisfied.
And the next day, the rabbit went to the raccoon dog's house again.
“Tanuki, how is your back?”
"It's much better now."
"Then why don't you two go fishing today? Let's eat delicious fish together."
"Oh, I like it."
The two came to the sea.
"Well then, I'll be on this wooden boat, and Tanuki-san will be on this mud boat."
The rabbit put the tanuki on a boat made of mud.
Then, he went out to sea and was fishing, but after a while, the mud boat of the raccoon dog dissolved in the water, and the tanuki fell into the sea.
"Wow. Usagi-san, help me! I can't swim!"
"Now you understand! Naughty tanuki! The old woman suffered because you pushed her!"
"Okay. I'm sorry! I won't do it again!"
The tanuki cried and apologized, so the rabbit helped him and carried him to the shore.
The tanuki apologized and went back to his house.
In this way, the rabbit went to tell the old man and the old woman that he had punished the raccoon dog, and the three of them worked in the fields and got along well.
How was it.
It was a story about a brave rabbit who punishes a mischievous raccoon dog.
