Let's read fairy tales in Japanese! Introducing the story "Little Red Riding Hood"!
hello everyone.
Today in Tokyo, the sun is warm and the weather is very pleasant. A little bit of pollen is flying, so I suddenly want to take a nap...
By the way, how are you all doing with your Japanese studies lately? Of course, it is important to learn words and grammar from textbooks, but I think it is also very important to actually see where and how the Japanese that you have learned is used in your daily life. You can speed up your learning by exposing yourself to live Japanese through Japanese music, anime, novels, and more! Let's enjoy learning Japanese culture together!
Today, I would like to introduce a story called "Little Red Riding Hood". There are few characters, so it's not a difficult story, so please read it while imagining the scene while feeling like the main character.
"Little Red Riding Hood"
Once upon a time there was a girl who looked good in a red hood.
The little girl loved this red hood her grandmother had made for her, and she wore it all the time, so everyone called her Little Red Riding Hood.
One day my mother said
"It looks like my grandmother is ill. Please bring some cake and some wine and go visit her."
"Yes!"
"Okay, don't detour on the way. There's a bad wolf in the woods, so be careful when you go."
"all right!"
Little Red Riding Hood replied cheerfully, put cake and wine in a basket, and started walking to her grandmother's house in the woods.
As Little Red Riding Hood was walking, a wolf approached her from behind.
"Little Red Riding Hood, where are you going?"
"I'm going to visit my grandmother in the woods."
"In that case, there is a flower garden over there, so you should pick some flowers there. I'm sure your grandmother will be happy if you bring some beautiful flowers."
"Yes. My mother told me not to take a detour, but it's okay if it's just a little. I told her to bring a bouquet to her."
"Yes. And where is your grandmother's house?"
"If you go all the way down this road, you'll see a big tree. Under that tree."
The Wolf grinned inwardly. I wanted to eat Little Red Riding Hood, but I wanted to eat Grandma first.
Then the wolf started running towards the grandmother's house.
Little Red Riding Hood was so busy picking flowers that she didn't even notice that the Wolf was gone.
The wolf imitated Little Red Riding Hood's voice when he came to Grandma's house.
"Grandmother, Little Red Riding Hood. I brought you cake and wine. Please open them."
Then the old woman got up from the bed and said,
"Hey, Little Red Riding Hood? You're way too early. It's unlocked, so come in."
"Shut up!!"
The wolf went to the bedside and swallowed the old woman in one gulp.
Then she put on her grandmother's clothes and crawled into bed.
After that, Little Red Riding Hood came to her grandmother's house with a bouquet of flowers.
"Grandmother, Little Red Riding Hood."
Then the wolf imitated the grandmother's voice and said,
"Hey, Little Red Riding Hood? Nice to meet you. Come in."
Little Red Riding Hood came closer to the bed.
"Well, Grandma, why are your eyes so big?"
"It's just so you can see your face."
"Then why are your ears so big?"
"It's so that I can hear you better."
"Then why is your mouth so big?"
"It's to eat you!"
The wolf ate Little Red Riding Hood.
And the wolf, whose stomach was full, fell asleep.
Then an uncle hunter came and found a wolf sleeping at his grandmother's house.
"Ah. This is a bad wolf. You swallowed the old lady!"
The uncle hurriedly cut the wolf's belly with a knife.
Then Little Red Riding Hood and her grandmother came out.
Then the uncle hunter stuffed the wolf's stomach with stones and sewed it up.
After a while the wolf woke up and went to the river to drink water because he was thirsty.
However, as soon as I brought my face close to the river, the stone in my stomach was so heavy that it sank into the river.
After that, the old woman was cheered up by the cake and wine that Little Red Riding Hood gave her.
How was it.
This story "Little Red Riding Hood" was a story that my mother often read to me when I was a child, and even now I can tell the whole story without looking at the book. Do you have a nostalgic story or song that you have heard many times? Did you feel like this when you heard fairy tales and nursery rhymes for the first time in a while after becoming an adult? what does this mean? Sometimes you wonder. However, when I was a child, I feel like I was able to imagine the story well. When I think about it like that, I think it's very interesting that there seems to be a world that only children can see.
