This week, the days when you can't even go out are continuing due to the typhoon. In times like these, let's enjoy learning Japanese at home! This time, I would like to introduce a story called "Flying Trunk".
"Flying Trunk"
Once upon a time there was a very poor man.
His rich father left him a large fortune, but the lazy man spent it all.
I had nothing to wear, nothing to eat, and all my friends were gone.
However, one friend who felt sorry for the man gave me an old trunk to put my luggage in.
The man is very happy, but he has nothing to put in his trunk. So I went into the trunk myself.
When I pressed the key, the trunk suddenly floated into the air. It was a mysterious magic trunk.
The man flew more and more, and finally came to a distant country.
Putting the trunk in the woods, we walked to the town. A large tower stands in the middle of the town.
The man asked the townspeople.
"Excuse me. Who lives in that big tower?"
"There lives a princess, but she is so high up that no one in this town has ever seen her."
"I can do it."
The man immediately got into the flying trunk and flew to the princess.
The man said to the surprised princess.
"I am a god from the sky."
"Yes, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to get to such a high place."
The princess was very happy. And the man told the princess many pleasant stories.
By the time the story was over, the princess had fallen in love with him.
The man also fell in love with the princess,
"Please marry me."
said. the princess is
"Okay. Please come back to the castle next Saturday. Tell your father and mother a pleasant story."
I answered.
The next Saturday the man went to the princess and told the king and queen the story.
Both the king and the queen listened to him with amusement.
"Well, interesting."
"I really laughed from the bottom of my stomach."
They were both very fond of him, and immediately agreed to marry the princess.
"Well then, let's start preparing for your wedding."
The man bought a lot of fireworks on his way back to the forest.
Then, the fireworks were set off over the town, surprising the townspeople.
The townsfolk spoke out.
"Was that man really a god?"
"I'm sure the princess will be happy too."
The man seemed content.
Unfortunately, the remaining fireworks ignited and burned the trunk.
"Oh my God, I can't fly anymore. I can't go to the princess."
The man cried and regretted it, but it was too late.
Even on the day of the wedding, the man could not go to the princess.
The poor princess waited forever for him.
How was it?
This story is Andersen's fairy tale. A rather abrupt turn of events where a poor man goes to a princess with a magic trunk and promises to marry her, but I find it interesting that there are no villains in this story.
Also, a mysterious trunk that can fly has appeared, but everyone wants to fly in the sky too! Have you ever thought When you are a child, everyone has such a dream once.
